Why can’t I just be myself?
Farrah: So Lana tell us about the show. It kind of has two different worlds.
Lana: It does. There is a fairytale world and ahh, there is also a modern world called Storybrooke Main. It goes back and forth. We go into flashbacks into fairytale land. Basically all these iconic, classic characters you have known our entire lives, reading or seeing in films, are umm cursed by the Evil Queen and send to Storybrooke where their memories have been erased, time is stopped and they don’t know who they are.Farrah: And you play the Evil Queen and you also play the mayor of Storybrooke Main. Tell us who you like playing more and how is it different?
Lana: I, ah, I well have to answer your first question. I love playing the Queen, I do. And uh, I have to be biased, but I love, I love playing the Queen. She is just so, just so much fun. The costumes, I can be really big, I can fly playing her. It is a challenge going back and forth. I usually have to kind of separate the script. I put the fairytale world in one pile and I keep Storybrooke in another and I work on them separately.Farrah: So you have to, kind of as an actor …
Lana: As an actor, I have to go back and forth. I kind of treat them as two separate characters, umm and then you know for specific episodes I find how to merge them. It’s kind of tricky, but it has been a lot of fun and I have enjoyed it, every moment.Farrah: What I find really cool about the show is that every episode is a different story. And also you also learn about the characters you grew up reading about. Why Jiminy Cricket is the way that he is for example. Talk to us about that.
Lana: Why is Grumpy grumpy? And why can’t the evil queen find love?Farrah: Well why can’t the evil queen find love and why is the Evil Queen so evil and why is she so angry?
Lana: It’s true, it’s true. It’s been really interesting. I love that they took that take on the show. I had no idea it was going to go in that direction. But it’s really nice, that these iconic characters that we know, you get to see a human side to them and learn their back story. My character for example had true love in her life and it was taken away and that is why she wants revenge gaiant Snow White, sooo …Farrah: And explain to us how Snow White took that love away, almost in an innocent way.
Lana: It was, it was, and that was kind of tricky. But basically she betrayed her, she confided in her and shared a secret. And Snow couldn’t keep it.Farrah: Ohk tell us is there going to be a happily ever after next season?
Lana: I have no idea. I really don’t. Just when you think it’s about to happen, something happens, there is magic, something goes wrong and there is a curse so I have no idea what to expect from the second season. I wish I can divulge and say something, but I really have no idea. I am in the dark. [x]
